Colby Chester Photography

Colby Chester has been an avid still photographer for much of his life, working in 35mm, medium format, & digital. It was the compelling photography in National Geographic Magazine (among whose founding members and long-time contributors was his great-grandfather) and the Sierra Club publication of Eliot Porter’s seminal work, In Wildness Is The Preservation of the World, that initially galvanized his interest in landscape and travel photography.
In addition to exhibiting his work locally at Benham Gallery and Photo Center Northwest, as well as an ongoing display at Portage Bay Cafe in South Lake Union, his images have been published in literary journals and art magazines, among them the Seattle Review, and the British release from Light & Land, Developing Vision & Style: A Master Class In Landscape Photography. A selection of his photographs is featured in the November 2009 issue of COLOR Magazine.
Mr. Chester is actively involved in environmental issues both locally and internationally, using his photography as an instrument for advocacy whenever possible.
